Dogs and their owners headed down to the coastal city of Pacifica near San Francisco in America to compete out on the water.

The dogs competed in categories according to their size. Charlie started surfing five years ago at the age of two. He won second place in the 'large to very large' dog group.

There were also separate categories for dogs who wanted to compete together like Rusty and Faith.

Dogs were judged on multiple factors, including the length of the ride, their technique and their confidence. Skyler looks like a pro!

No matter how big or small, all the dogs - like Carson here - wore life jackets in case the sea became "ruff".

Carson, Rippin Rosie and Charlie couldn't paw-sibly have looked any more relaxed as the three friends caught a wave!

They say that dogs looks like their owners! Derby and his owner Kentucky sported matching blue mohawks and shiny sunglasses as they took to the water!
