The Queen: Elizabeth II's funeral in pictures

In the morning, guests started to arrive at Westminster Abbey for the funeral service. The building is more than 700 years old - it dates back to the 13th century.

The Queen's coffin was taken through Westminster Abbey. On top of the coffin was her royal crown, and her special orb (the gold sphere with a cross on top) and sceptre (the golden staff next to it), which are hundreds of years old.

Thousands of people waited on the streets in London to watch the procession go past after the funeral. After the service, the Queen's coffin was moved across London to Windsor Castle.

The procession was lead by the army, the police, and the special royal guards. The guards have been watching the Queen's coffin during the lying-in-state in Westminster Hall, 24 hours a day.

A special service, called a committal service, was held later in the day in St George's chapel in Windsor Castle. This is where the Queen is going to be buried, and her husband Prince Philip was buried here last year.
