Ellie Leach and her professional dance partner Vito Coppola have been crowned the winners of Strictly Come Dancing 2023.

The former Coronation Street actress beat fellow celebrities Bobby Brazier and Layton Williams to lift the trophy.

Each couple performed three dances in the grand finale - one chosen by the judges, one their own favourite dance from the series, and the other was a show dance.

The pair were bottom of the table after all three sets of scores were given by the judges, however it was the public vote that decided which celebrity took this year's title.

The show kicked-off with the Strictly professionals performing the opening dance number, dressed in black and white.

The entire celebrity line-up of the 2023 series also came back for one more routine, along with their dance partners.

This year's Strictly finale featured the show's youngest trio of finalists ever.

As usual, all the couples performed three dances in the final.

Ellie and Vito danced a routine set to Ain't That A Kick In The Head by Robbie Williams, scoring 40 points.

They also performed their Paso Doble routine again while their show dance was a Jennifer Lopez megamix.

However, they faced stiff competition from the other two couples - Layton and Nikita, and Bobby and Dianne - who also took to the dancefloor for one last time.

At the end of the three dances, Layton and Nikita topped the leaderboard, scoring 119, followed by Bobby and Dianne with 117 and Ellie and Vito at 115.

However it was the public vote that ultimately decided that Ellie and Vito would be crowned this year's winners.

When they were announced as champions, Ellie said: "I genuinely cannot believe this."

Turning to her dance partner Vito, she added: "This is for you."

It was a big moment for Vito, who took home the trophy with only his second-ever Strictly partner after joining the show last year.

He was full of praise for his dancing partner and called Ellie a "diamond" who had made him "so proud".

He added: "You have been so amazing, you are Strictly, you represent Strictly."

Now the series has finished, there is still more Strictly to look forward to.

A Christmas special is airing on BBC One and iPlayer on Christmas Day at 4:40pm.

Six new celebs will be partnered with Strictly professionals, and the couples will perform festive routines in the hope of impressing the judges and audience to win the one-off show.
