The nominations have been announced for the Bafta Games Awards 2024.

The awards celebrate the work of game development teams and are now in their 20th year.

A total of 40 games are in the running across 17 different categories including animation, game design and music.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom are among the games with the most nominations.

The awards are one of the most important nights in the calendar for the gaming industry, they take place in London on 11 April and will be streamed live around the world.

The nominations and eventual winners are decided by votes from a group of experts who work in the gaming industry.

That is true for all but one award - the Players' Choice Award, which is voted for by the public.

Fortnite, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom make up half of the games in the running for the Players' Choice Award.

The Legend of Zelda might have beaten Spider-Man 2 at the Game Awards last year, but it hasn't received as many nominations for the Baftas.

Spider-Man 2 is up for a total of nine categories including animation, game design and best game.

Zelda is also in the running for best game and game design, as well as four other categories.

Elsewhere Dave the Diver picked up five nominations and Super Mario Bros. Wonder got four.
