Ipswich Town promoted to Premier League for first time in 22 years

Ipswich Town have been promoted to the Premier League for the first time twenty-two years.

On Saturday the club celebrated their promotion following an exciting match against Huddersfield Town at Ipswich's home stadium.

Ipswich won the match 2-0, sending Portman Road Stadium in an eruption of blue joy as fans saw their team finally achieve what they had been hoping to do for just over two decades.

The promotion now means that club will play in the next 2024/25 seasons of the Premier League.

Wes Burns scoring the first goal of the game

Wes Burns was the first Ipswich Town player to score in the match, with a second goal from Omari Hutchinson in the 48th minute.

Ed Sheeran, who is one of the club's sponsors, was watching the game from Miami in the US and video called them afterwards to congratulate.

Ed has been a lifelong fan of Ipswich Town and as a sponsor of the club has his album names on the team's kit.
