British Book Awards: Children's author wins big prize

A children's writer has won best author at the British Book Awards - which is a big and important prize for writers.
Katherine Rundell's recent fantasy book - Impossible Creatures - is all about saving a magical world.
The best author award is usually won by people who write books for adults, and hasn't been won by a children's author since 2018.

Impossible Creatures
Katherine Rundell's book follows a girl from a mystical land and a boy from our world as they try save a place full of magical creatures.
They journey around the mysterious 'Archipelago', on a mission to bring back magic.
The book also won in the best children's book category at the British Book Awards - in the past this has been won with books like Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl and Horrid Henry.
The British Book Awards also have a children's non-fiction prize, which was won this year by a book all about looking after your mental health.
