Paris 2024: GB's 14th gold medal after climbing victory

Toby Roberts, 19, has claimed gold after a tense final on Friday. It is the first medal for Team GB in sport climbing at an Olympics. Climbers have to complete bouldering and lead climbing for the event. Roberts didn't seem to realise he had won at first and afterwards said: "I'm just absolutely lost for words, to find out I got the gold in that moment, it's truly incredible."

It was the first time the sport has been part of the Olympic Games.
The win was Team GB's 13th gold medal of Paris 2024.

She beat rivals Tsige Duguma of Ethiopia and world champion Mary Moraa of Kenya to cross the finish line in one minute 56.72 seconds.
"I have worked really hard for the last year and I think you can see how much it meant to me when I crossed the line. I can't believe I have finally done it!" said Keely.

Emma Finucane, Sophie Capewell and Katy Marchant took home a gold medal in the women's team sprint cycling event.
It is the first time Britain has won a women's team sprint medal, of any colour, at the Olympics.
They also set a new world record - for the third time in the competition - of 45.186 seconds to beat New Zealand.

Day 8 starts well with a gold in the rowing Men's Eight Final.
GB powered to a thrilling win, battling for the lead with the Netherlands before surging ahead in the third quarter of the 2,000m race.
The British boat rose to the challenge and won by 1.08 seconds in five minutes and 22.8 seconds.

Earlier the women's crew won bronze on the final day of rowing at the Paris Olympics.
The successes on the final day of the rowing competition mean Britain finish with a record haul for an overseas Games of eight medals, and their best tally since London 2012, where they won nine on the water.

Bryony Page won Great Britain's first trampoline Olympic gold to complete her set of a medal of every colour.
The 33-year-old, who took silver at Rio 2016 for what was the nation's first Olympic trampoline medal, followed that up with bronze at Tokyo 2020 before taking the ultimate prize in Paris with 56.480 points.

Two-time world champion Page had her head in her hands and looked in disbelief when her score came in.
After qualifying for the eight-woman final with the fifth best score, Page had to wait until seventh of the eight gymnasts to compete and her victory was confirmed when the final gymnast made a mistake and bounced off the trampoline.

The victory completes a remarkable run for the duo who have been unbeaten since missing out on a medal at the Tokyo Olympics by 0.01 seconds.

The Dutch led from the front but were pipped on the line after an astonishing push from the GB team of Lauren Henry, Hannah Scott, Lola Anderson and Georgie Brayshaw.

Alex Yee produced an amazing sprint finish to claim Olympic triathlon gold, after Beth Potter won bronze in the women’s race. Olympic triathlon involves a 1.5km swim followed by a 40km bike ride... followed by a 10Km run. Ouch!
Alex, who got silver in the Tokyo Games looked like he was beaten, but came back in the final metres to overtake a New Zealand athlete and take the win.

The 4x200m freestyle team of (left to right) Duncan Scott, James Guy, Matt Richards, and Tom Dean won GB's first swimming gold, making history as the first British relay team, in the pool OR on the track, to win at back-to-back Olympics.
"It is all I have been thinking about since we won it in Tokyo, to do it again, " said Tom Dean. Duncan Scott now has seven Olympic medals including two golds, putting him joint-third in the all-time GB medal-winners list.

Nathan Hales wins Team GB's third gold medal by setting a new Games record in the men's trap shooting final. The 28-year-old hit 48 shots out of 50 to break the previous record of 43.

In trap shooting, the competitors each shoot at 25 targets, at which point the sixth-placed athlete is eliminated. The lowest ranked competitor is then eliminated after every subsequent five shots each. When only two athletes remain, they each shoot at another 10 targets (thus completing a total of 50 targets in the final), with their overall score determining the winner.

Earlier on day three, the eventing team won Team GB's first gold medals at the Paris Olympics. Equestrians Laura Collett, Tom McEwen and Ros Canter claimed top spot, beating hosts France who finished with silver, while Japan scooped bronze.

Team GB defended their title, which they also won at the last Games in Tokyo. The result means that Great Britain have now scooped Olympic gold at the Team Eventing for a record fifth time in their history - more than any other nation.
