The Paris 2024 Olympics might seem like they were just yesterday, but organisers are already hard at work preparing for the next ones.

Los Angeles in the US will be the host city in 2028.

The Games will already be different in that they will feature five new sports, but it could also be a new experience for some spectators too.

Aside from movies and music, the giant city is famous for its terrible traffic jams, which organisers are trying beat by announcing plans for flying electric taxis to be used during both the Olympics and Paralympic Games.

The 2028 Games will be the third time that Los Angeles has hosted the event, having already done so in 1932 and 1984.

LA28 is the name of the team that is in charge of planning this time round.

It's announced a partnership with Archer Aviation to provide the air taxi service.

According to the plans, special electric helicopter-style aircraft would be used to take fans to and from venues.

It was hoped that flying taxis could be used at the Paris Games, however they couldn't pass European air safety rules in time.

So far the use of the Archer Aviation air taxis haven't been given the permission they need in the US either, so that's a big hurdle to overcome.

If they do get the go-ahead to operate, they say they would offer flights between 10 and 20 minutes long to select places including several of the biggest Olympic venues in the region.

Sounds like they need a gold medal in big ideas!
