Lucy Bronze named England women's player of the year

Thousands of fans have cast their vote for England Women' s Player of the Year 2024-25.
And the winner? It was Lucy Bronze.
In a historic year for the Lionesses, Bronze was voted by fans as the standout player ahead of Chloe Kelly and Hannah Hampton who took second and third place.
The defender played a big role in England's win at the Euros this summer.

Bronze was presented the award by teammate Georgia Stanway in front of the Lionesses players and staff at St. George's Park.
Stanway praised Bronze's leadership and impact on the team.
Bronze said "I wasn't expecting it but it's always nice to get recognition, especially from England fans"
Going on to say "I adore playing for England and I have put my heart and soul into every game over the last 12 years."

Bronze made her senior debut for England in 2013, and has 140 caps.
She is also a two-time European champion and has played in 36 games across seven major tournaments, more than any other Lioness player in history.
As well as playing for her country Bronze also plays for Chelsea, although she has only made two appearances this season because of injury.
Following the Lionesses win against Spain in the Euros, Bronze revealed that she had played the tournament with a fractured leg.
Bronze has been named in the England squad for the upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Australia.
