Have you ever accidentally broken something precious?

Uh-oh! Accidents happen and this time it happened to a four-year-old boy at a museum in Israel.

He accidentally smashed a jar dating back to the Bronze Age which was on display near the entrance of the Hecht Museum.

The 3,500-year-old artefact was rare because it was intact but the museum says they've appointed a specialist in conservation to restore it.

The vases were out on display near the entrance of the museum and weren't behind any glass or barriers

The vase wasn't behind any glass because the museum says there is "special charm" in showing archaeological finds "without obstructions".

The Hecht Museum have invited the child and their family back to the museum for a tour and say they'll continue to display items without a glass barrier.

The boy's father, Alex, said they will feel "relieved" to see the jar restored but was "sorry" because "it will no longer be the same item".

The jar was once most likely used to carry local supplies like wine and olive oil.

Similar items of pottery found during archaeological digs are usually broken or incomplete when unearthed, making this intact jar "an impressive find" when it was discovered, the museum added.
