May's full moon, known as the Flower Moon, stunned photographers from all corners of the Earth this week, so we thought we would put together a spectacular gallery of images from around the world.

Even though it looks huge in this picture taken in London as a plane takes off, this Flower Moon was actually what is known as a 'micromoon.' It is at its furthest point from Earth, making it appear smaller than usual. Still looks pretty big to us!

Across the Atlantic Ocean, New Yorkers were treated to this fantastic sight of the Moon appearing to sit on top of the Empire State Building in Manhattan

Back in Europe, and visitors to the world-famous Temple of Poseidon near Athens would have had this spectacular view. The Flower Moon is also known as the Hare Moon, the Corn Planting Moon or the Milk Moon.

Well, it is because the light from the Moon is passing through much more of the Earth's atmosphere to reach your eyes than when it appears higher in the sky.

Finally, here is the Flower Moon appearing to peek out from behind El Pilar Basilica in Zaragoza, Spain. The name Flower Moon is said to have come from some Native American tribes, who would name each of the year's moons after events that happened at the same time, such as the blooming of lots of flowers for spring.
