What would you want to talk to your pet about?

Pets are very special, and many of us consider our beloved animals as members of the family.

Despite all the affection we may have for them, we sadly aren't able to communicate with our non-human friends in the way we do with other people.

But this could all change in the future.

A tech company in China is exploring whether people could one day translate pooch's barks, cats meows and other animal sounds into human language using artificial intelligence (AI).

So we want to know - if you could have a conversation with your pet about anything, what would you talk about and why?

You can let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

The company, which is called Baidu, is looking into creating a system which would convert animal noises into human language.

Baidu recently filed a document known as a patent, which would legally stop other companies from attempting to do the same.

According to the patent, the system will collect lots of animal data including vocal sounds, behavioural patterns, and body language, and this information will be analysed by AI designed to recognise an animal's emotional state.

The emotional states would then be translated into human language.

The system could allow "deeper emotional communication and understanding between animals and humans..." Baidu said in the patent document.

The news of the system has already got a lot attention.

But Baidu has made it clear it's still in the research phase, so communicating with your pet in this way isn't likely to be a reality any time soon.
