While it's something many of us might do to relax, the World Jigsaw Puzzle Championships is all about putting pieces together like a sport. The competition started in 2019 and takes place in Valladolid, Spain. People from around the world have to complete either a 500 or 1,000 piece jigsaw in a set amount of time in the individual, pairs or teams categories.

Each individual, pair and team go through a first round where they try to qualify for the semi-final and then the final. People under the age of 14 can register, if they are accompanied by an adult as a pair or team. The winners get a cash prize and there are jigsaws given out for taking part!

There are 108 tables which are numbered along with competitors' names and countries. Only participants, judges and people who are authorised are allowed to enter this area and there's no singing allowed so it doesn't put other people off.

People can't unseal or open the puzzle boxes on the table before the timer starts and no sharp objects like scissors or box cutters can be used for safety reasons. During the test, the judges monitor the progress of the puzzle and put their hands up when it's completed so the time can be recorded.

This year, the Busy Birdies team from the US won the teams category and completed a 1,000 piece jungle scene puzzle for the victory in a time of 1 hour, 16 minutes and 7 seconds. They had up to three hours to complete it. Here they are celebrating. They'll receive a trophy and £1,000 for winning. Well done to them!
