Junior winners of the Scottish nature photo awards 2024

The 15th annual Scottish Nature Photography Awards winners have been announced.

There are eight categories including the Junior Scottish Nature Photographer of the Year.

Kiran Simpson (age 13) won the Junior category with his amazing photo, called Feathers and Ripples, of a robin balancing on a branch in the water.

Reacting to his win, Kiran said: "This photo, capturing a common bird in an uncommon setting, means a lot to me, and it's incredible to see it celebrated. Photography has brought me to see nature more closely, and this award inspires me all the more to keep exploring."

On social media last year Kiran said of about the photo: "A very sweet moment to see as this Robin, perched on a low branch, gracefully dipped into the water, and gave me the perfect pose."

Kiran also came third in the category with his photo of a pied wagtail eyeing up his next snack.

The win comes just after he won the 12-14 category of the British Wildlife Photography awards in March 2025.
