Snapped! Amazing photos from Nature Photographer of the Year 2025

Have you ever seen a crab with a chick? Or a gorilla with a butterfly?

Well that's exactly what was captured in this year's Nature Photographer of the Year competition.

The photograph contest had over 24 thousand photo entries.

There were 12 categories to compete in, read on to see some of the winners.

Who was the overall winner of Nature Photographer 2025?

This photo - Sundance - won the overall prize

Amateur photographer Åsmund Keilen from Norway used reflections to capture this image.

He photographed the orange birch seeds that had fallen onto the blue roof of his car, with the sun reflecting the common swifts in the sky.

This photograph was also the winner of the Birds category.

This photo of a young female mountain gorilla was taken from a forest in Uganda.

It shows the balance of nature, how some animals are strong like the gorilla and others fragile, like the butterfly.

This bobcat photograph was the Youth 10-17 Years winner, taken by Leo Dale.

This might look like a photo from an alien planet, but it's actually taken in the ocean in Bali.

The crinoid shrimp perfectly blends with the feather star - which is a relative of sea urchins and starfish.
