It was a big night for national football teams in the UK, as Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland got a step closer to their dreams of qualifying for Euro 2025.

The women's teams are hoping to join England in next year's tournament, after the reigning champions qualified back in July.

They'll all need to beat one more international team at the play-off finals to secure their spot in the competition.

It's a big moment for all the teams, but especially Wales, who've never qualified for a women's major tournament before.

Euro 2025 is set to take place in Switzerland from 2 to 27 July next year.

The win will see Wales play the Republic of Ireland next month to decide who'll go through to Euro 2025

Wales faced off against Slovakia on home turf, where they had to score at least two goals to win overall after a 2-1 loss against the side last week.

Jess Fishlock had lots of chances to score, but had a couple of her attempts disallowed after her first goal for Wales.

It then took until extra time before Ceri Holland got the winning point, which had to go through a long VAR check after another player rattled the goalposts.

After a goalless full time, the stadium erupted when Northern Ireland scored their extra time stunner

It was another extra-time goal that sealed the win for Northern Ireland last night.

Lauren Wade scored in the 114th minute to put the team ahead after their last game against Croatia ended up a 1-1 draw.

Northern Ireland are now lined up to play against Norway, who have beaten them three times in the last five years, making it a tough game ahead in the play-off finals.

Caroline Weir scored the third goal of the game in her second appearance for Scotland this year

Scotland didn't need any extra time goals to sail ahead of Hungary, after their head coach Pedro Martinez Losa said there was "no way" his side were going to lose.

An own goal from Hungary's goalkeeper started off Scotland's scoring streak, followed up with three goals shared between different players.

Scotland are now unbeaten for eight games in a row, and hope to continue their success against Finland, who they'll need to defeat in order to qualify for Euro 2025.
