Paris Paralympics Day 10: Hannah Cockroft and Stephen Clegg win gold

With just one day left of the 2024 Paris Paralympics, ParalympicsGB showed no signs of slowing down.

Great Britain won no less than 20 medals including five gold medals on Saturday.

There were golds from Hannah Cockroft in the women’s wheelchair T34 800m race.

Para-canoers Emma Wiggs and Charlotte Henshaw also got gold.

Cyclist Finlay Graham triumphed in the men’s C1-3 road race and Stephen Clegg won the S12 100m butterfly final.

Hannah Cockroft crossing the line in the women’s T34 800m

Hannah Cockroft bagged another gold medal on Saturday after she won the women’s T34 800m, bringing her career total of gold Paralympic medals to 9.

It was a double victory for ParalympicGB with Hannah finishing almost 8 seconds ahead of teammate Kare Adenegan who got silver.

Hannah Cockroft has won gold in the 100m and 800m at every Paralympics since London 2012, and took the 400m title at Rio 2016.

After the race she celebrated by ringing the bell at the side of the track nine times, one for each of her Paralympic medals

"The atmosphere was amazing," she said. "I could feel the noise following me around, it’s like being back in London, I love it."

Charlotte Henshaw won gold in the VL3 Sprint

ParalympicsGB got two gold medals and two silver medals on the water on Saturday.

Para-canoeist Charlotte Henshaw won the VL3 sprint, with Britain's Hope Gordon taking second place.

Charlotte who switched over to canoeing, also has silver and bronze from London 2012 and Rio 2016 in swimming.

Emma Wiggs got gold in canoeing VL2 (va'a), completing the 200m course in just 58.88 seconds.

There was also a silver for GB's Dave Phillipson in the men's KL2 kayak race.

Stephen Clegg won gold in a close butterfly race

Stephen Clegg won the men's S12 100m butterfly in a thrilling finish, after he won the S12 100m backstroke earlier in the Games.

The top five were separated by less than a second, but Stephen Clegg managed clinch first place.

He finished just 0.43 seconds ahead of the silver medalist, Dzmitry Salei.

“I wasn’t sure when I touched the wall if I got it, I didn’t want to celebrate too hard," he said.

Also on the last day of swimming, Alice Tai got her fifth medal of the 2024 Games - and GB's thirty-first in the pool - when she won bronze in the women's S8 100m butterfly.
