Fifa World Cup final to stage half-time show

Next year's World Cup final will stage it's first-ever Super Bowl-style half-time show.
The announcement was made by Fifa President Gianni Infantino, however more details are yet to be confirmed.
The 2026 tournament kicks off on 11 June and is being co-hosted by three different countries for the first time.
Matches will take place across 16 cities in the USA, Canada and Mexico before the big final on 19 July at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

What has been announced?

The final will take place at the MetLife Stadium, home of the New York Jets NFL team
The announcement was made by on social media by Fifa president Gianni Infantino.
He wrote: "I can confirm the first ever half-time show at a Fifa World Cup final in New York, New Jersey.
"This will be a historic moment for the Fifa World Cup and a show befitting the biggest sporting event in the world," Mr Infantino added.
He also revealed that Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin and their band manager Phil Harvey will help put together a set of artists to perform during the break at next year's final.
However, Infantino did not confirm who might be performing or how long Fifa intended the show to last - although for comparison, the Super Bowl's generally lasts around 30 minutes so that the various stages and equipment can be built and dismantled.
Infantino also said there would be a "takeover" of Times Square in New York City over the weekend of the final, although more details are yet to be revealed.
