Nintendo has released a first-look trailer for the follow-up to their Switch console - the Switch 2.

The company say it will come out in 2025 but they didn't give a release date or any details on price.

Its expected to be a more powerful version of the Switch but will remain a 'hybrid' console - one that you can play as a portable device and also in the dock.

The look of the device has also had a bit of an update.

The original Switch came out in 2017 and was a big hit - as of September 2024 it had sold 143 million units, making it one of the best-selling home consoles of all time.

It had an update in 2021 with the Switch OLED, which came with a bigger screen and more storage.

As for games, the company announced that Switch 2 would play both physical and digital Switch games, but not all existing titles will be compatible.

During the trailer, a version of Mariokart was playing on the device's screen.

More info is expected in April but the company said it would also be hosting big events later in the year where fans could try the new device out.
