Beyoncé finally took home the prize for best album

The Grammy Awards - one of the music industry's biggest award shows - took place in Los Angeles in the US last night.

There were live performances from pop stars Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan, and the ceremony also raised money for those affected by the LA wildfires, raising more than $7 million (£5.7 million) with local firefighters taking part in the awards show.

One of the biggest winners of the night was Beyoncé, who took home the award for Album of the Year, for Cowboy Carter.

This was a pretty huge moment for the singer, who holds the record for winning the most Grammy Awards but has never won the album of the year category.

As her name was read out, Beyoncé hugged her daughter Blue Ivy, then her husband Jay-Z, before walking to the stage to accept the trophy from members of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

"I just feel very full and very honoured," she said. "It's been many, many years."

Beyoncé also won best country album, which she accepted from Taylor Swift - a bit of a big moment in Grammys history, as Tay-Tay had previously beaten Beyoncé to the album of the year in 2010.

In her speech, Beyoncé talked about encouraging artists to try different musical styles: "Genre is a code word to keep us in place as artists, and I just want to encourage us to do what we're passionate about."

Beyoncé's Grammy record now stands at a whopping 35 award wins and 99 nominations.

The 67th Grammy Awards show saw lots of other artists and music makers celebrated throughout the evening.

Rapper Kendrick Lamar, who will be headlining the Super Bowl half-time show this year, won five awards, including record of the year.

Sabrina Carpenter won two awards: Best pop solo performance for her caffeinated summer anthem, Espresso, and best pop album for Short n' Sweet.

British pop star Charli XCX took home three prizes, including best dance/pop album.

Chappell Roan won best new artist and used her speech to call for better pay and healthcare for artists in the music industry.

Best rap album went to Doechii for her mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal. She talked about how it was only the third time a woman had won the category since it was introduced in 1989.

"There are so many black women out there that are watching me right now, and I want to tell you, you can do it," she added.

Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars accepted the award for best pop duo/group, and singer Alicia Keys picked up the lifetime achievement award.

Last year Taylor Swift became the first artist to win album of the year four times, but this year saw her go home empty-handed despite six nominations, as did singers Ariana Grande and Billie Eilish.
