Young people can travel by bus for £1 in Wales

Young people will be able to travel by bus for £1 across Wales as part of a test scheme.
Single fares will cost £1 and full day passes will be £3 for 16-21 year olds with the trial including five to 15-year-olds from the beginning of November.
Welsh government Transport Minister Ken Skates said he hoped the scheme would help young people "access education, training, employment, and leisure".

To get the cheaper fares, those that fit the criteria will need to apply for a mytravelpass on the Transport For Wales (TFW) website.
As it is a trial the discount is currently available until September 2026.
Children aged five to 15 will not need a pass to qualify when their trial begins in November.
Bus services which are run by private companies sign up to the scheme voluntarily and so far it includes all major bus operators.

Lee Robinson, executive director for regional transport and integration at TfW, said they had already received more than 10,000 applications for the mytravelpass.
"I think it's a really important scheme for young people to encourage them to use public transport at an affordable price," he said.
David Beer from independent transport watchdog Transport Focus said, "it's a time when we want to encourage people to get out of other forms of transport and get onto buses."
In other parts of the UK, everyone in Scotland aged between five and 22 has been entitled to free bus travel since January 2022.
And although some towns and cities have individual schemes for young people, there is no overall discounted or free travel for young people across England.
