Flying car takes off and zooms over other vehicle

A flying car? Sounds like something out of a movie right?

But this one is actually real.

An aeronautical company in the US has released footage showing a pre-production version of a flying car.

The CEO of the company 'Alef Aeronautics' told the BBC's senior technology reporter Chris Vallance, that he had thousands of pre-orders and hoped to start production within 12 months.

The company says that the electric car, priced at around $300,000 (£237,000), has a predicted airborne range of 110km (68 miles).

And while it all sounds pretty cool, if it is built - its unlikely you will be able to take a friend for a spin - the cockpit only has enough room for one and a half people.

But, before it gets to that stage there are huge technological and regulatory hurdles to overcome, as Alef Aeronautics and other companies trying to make flying cars know all about.
