Want to see a record-breaking tower demolition?

Experts have blown up eight cooling towers at an old power station in Nottinghamshire.

Contractors said the flattening of the 114m structures at Cottam Power Station, all at the same time, was the largest demolition of cooling towers ever carried out.

The complex, opened in 1968, generated electricity for 3.7 million homes but closed for good in 2019.

The explosion was the ninth demolition event there as part of a plan to clear the site to be used for something else.
