Guernsey's Tom Druce wins 400m gold at Island Games

Druce won the 400m final by close to three seconds

Tom Druce secured Guernsey's sixth athletics gold, external medal at the Island Games as he eased to victory over 400m.

Having strolled through the heats, with a best time of 49.57 seconds, Druce pushed himself harder in the final to finish in 46.71.

Junior Hines from the Cayman Islands was Druce's nearest rival, finishing in 49.20 to take the silver medal.

Gotland's Mattias Sunneborn finished third, with Jersey's Peter Irving and Sam Dawkins fourth and fifth.
