Jenny Meadows wins seventh British Indoor title in Sheffield

Jenny Meadows won the 800 metres at the British Indoor Championships in Sheffield.

The 2011 European indoor champion, 33, clocked two minutes 1.43 seconds for her seventh title at the event.

She will be joined at next month's European Indoor Championships in Prague by Shelayna Oskan-Clarke, who finished second in a personal best 2:02.91.

"I wanted to kick myself as I could have run quicker and maybe got another sub-two minute clocking," said Meadows.

"It's my seventh title and I'm starting to feel in the form of my life, so I hope to get some true results in the major championships this year."

Laura Muir, 21, took the women's 1,500m gold in 4:13.06, while Nigel Levine won the men's 400m title for a record fifth successive time.

He clocked 46.86 seconds to meet the European qualifying standard, as did Allan Smith in the high jump with a personal best 2.29m and Serita Solomon in the 60m hurdles with 8.04secs.

In a highly competitive women's 3,000m, 21-year-old Emelia Gorecka, racing for the first time indoors, took the British title in 9:06:27, despite finishing second to Ireland's Sara Treacy.

World junior 800m silver medallist Jessica Judd, 20, finished third in 9:09.67 and world silver medallist Hannah England was sixth.

Jersey's Commonwealth Games finalist Zane Duquemin successfully defended his shot put title with a winning throw of 17.72m, while Guy Learmonth took the men's 800m title in 1:49:00.

New Welsh hope Seren Bundy-Davies was leading the women's 400m final in the closing stages before she and Margaret Adeoye collided, causing both to fall and leaving Kirsten McAslan to win narrowly from Laura Maddox.

The European Indoor Championships in Prague will take place between Friday 6 March and Sunday 8 March.
