Jessica Ennis-Hill says she is fit to compete in her first heptathlon since becoming Olympic champion in 2012.

The Briton, 29, returned to athletics this month for the first time since the birth of her son but has been struggling with an Achilles injury.

However, she will travel to Austria for the meeting in Gotzis on 30-31 May as she targets the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

"It is feasible for me to do a full heptathlon and achieve the level of points I need to qualify," she said.

Ennis-Hill - who spent two years away from competition to have her first child, Reggie, who was born in 2014 - needs 6,200 points to be eligible to defend her title in Brazil.

She returned to action earlier this month and continued her comeback at Loughborough on Sunday.

She took third place in the long jump with a leap of 6.16m and threw 43.88m to finish sixth in the javelin.

"After competing in Loughborough at the weekend, I felt pretty good the next day and my Achilles felt fine which is brilliant," she said.

"The results I have had at the competitions over the past few weeks are promising."

She said qualifying early for the Rio Olympics would remove "a real pressure", adding: "All the indicators are looking positive, so I plan to go to Gotzis and give it my best shot."

Compatriot Katarina Johnson-Thompson will not defend her heptathlon title in Gotzis as she is "not sufficiently prepared".
