World Athletic Championships: BBC brings best of coverage

BBC Sport will present unrivalled coverage of the World Athletics Championships which take place from 22-30 August in Beijing.

BBC TV, radio and online will cover every event from the home of the 2008 Olympic Games.

Four-time Olympic and eight-time world champion Michael Johnson will be part of the team which will show 70 hours of action across BBC One and BBC Two.

Live coverage will be followed by an hour-long evening highlights show.

Barbara Slater, director of BBC Sport, said: "The BBC's television offering, alongside an abundance of radio, online and digital programming, will make sure audiences will not miss a minute of World Athletics' flagship event as we continue to unite the nation through must-see sporting moments."

Gabby Logan will lead the television presentation from BBC Sport's home in Salford alongside Johnson, with former world champions Jonathan Edwards and Steve Cram heading the team in Beijing.

The daily schedule will see the morning sessions run through the night in the UK on BBC Two, with the evening sessions live from 11:00am BST each day across BBC One and BBC Two.

Edwards and world 100m bronze medallist Darren Campbell will join commentator Mike Costello on Radio 5 live.

Olympians Steve Backley, Paula Radcliffe, Denise Lewis, Colin Jackson and Brendan Foster will join Phil Jones, Andrew Cotter, Allison Curbishley and Sonja McLaughlan in adding expert commentary, interviews and analysis.

BBC Sport's digital offering of the World Championships will bring live coverage and highlights across PC, mobile, tablet and connected TV. The dedicated live coverage page - available on the BBC Sport website - will offer live video, radio and text commentary, rolling highlights and votes, whilst a daily highlights package will be available via BBC Red Button from 07:00 each day and will run on repeat throughout each morning.

Fans will also be able to share their views on the action via social media, using #bbcathletics or by commenting on the BBC Sport Facebook page.

Coverage begins with a World Athletics Championships: A Beijing Special preview programme on BBC Two on Friday, 21 August at 19:00, setting the scene for an action-packed nine days of world-class athletics.
