Disqualified London 2012 pair return to win All-England Open

Chinese pair Yu Yang and Wang Xiaoli have won the All-England Open championships seven months after being disqualified from the Olympics.

Yu retired from the sport after the duo were one of four pairs disqualified from London 2012 for attempting to lose matches to get favourable draws.

The pair returned with a win at the Korean Open in January.

And they beat compatriots Zhao Yunlei and Cheng Shu 21-18 21-10 to win the prestigious All-England title.

The top seeds were always in control of the final in Birmingham and despite allowing Zhao and Cheng four consecutive points in the opening game, they held on to win before easing their way to the second game.

As well as Yu and Wang, two South Korean pairs and an Indonesian pair were thrown out of last summer's Games.

They were accused of wanting to lose, in an attempt to manipulate the draw for the knockout stage.

Dane Tine Baun, 33, became the oldest All-England women's singles winner when she beat Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon 21-14 16-21 21-10.

Victory meant Baun also ended her career on a high with a third All England title before immediately retiring from the game.

Baun said: "I had a dream of being in the final, but I didn't expect it - but I am still definitely retiring."

Second seed Chen Long of China upset Malaysia's number one seed Lee Chong Wei 21-17 21-18 to win the men's crown.

In the final of the men's doubles, China's Liu Xiaolong and Qiu Zihan overcame Japanese pair Hiroyuki Endo and Kenichi Hayakawa 21-11 21-9, while in the mixed doubles, Indonesia's Tontowi Ahmad and Lilyana Natsir successfully defended their title with a 21-11 21-17 win over China's Zhao Yunlei and Zhang Nan.
