Morgan Lake says her decision to miss the Commonwealth Games was a tough one

Teenage heptathlete Morgan Lake has pulled out of England's Commonwealth Games team to concentrate on the World Junior Championships.

The 17-year-old had been selected to compete in the Glasgow event, which takes place on 29 and 30 July.

However, she will now compete alongside the world's top juniors in Oregon a week earlier.

"Ultimately, it's right for me and my development to focus on the World Juniors," she said.

"This has been an extremely difficult decision for me to take as I was honoured to be selected to Team England.

"I want to wish the rest of the team all the very best and I'll be cheering them all on."

Lake has already broken Katarina Johnson-Thompson's British junior heptathlon record, and scored 6,081 points in Gotzis, Austria, last month to move second behind her English rival on the under-20s all-time list.

She will be replaced in the England team by Grace Clements, who won bronze in Delhi four years ago.
