Durham 142-6 (20 overs) beat Yorkshire 140-8 (20 overs) |
Durham held their nerve to beat Yorkshire by two runs in a FL t20 thriller at Headingley.
The visitors made 142-6 with Ben Stokes leading the way with 36 off 28 balls, helped by Dale Benkenstein (25) and Gordon Muchall (25 not out).
Despite 34 from Rich Pyrah, Yorkshire fell to 99-6 in reply in the 15th over.
Gerard Brophy (32) gave the home side hope, before two wickets in two balls for Scott Borthwick (2-24) swung the game and Yorkshire fell short on 140-8.
The hosts were taken close by some lusty hitting from Azeem Rafiq (21 not out) who smashed a six off the first ball of the last over from Borthwick but, needing to hit four off the final ball, could only manage a single.
