Michael Hogan signing never in doubt, say Glamorgan

Glamorgan say they were always confident of securing Australian seamer Michael Hogan for the next two years.

Hogan is due to arrive in UK next week despite his Western Australia coach, Justin Langer, wanting to keep him in Australia.

The 30-year-old has given up Australian qualification to take up a British passport.

"He has always been coming from our point of view," said a Glamorgan spokesman.

"It has never been an issue as far as we are concerned."

Hogan had been due to come to Glamorgan in 2012 but stayed to see out the final year of his contract with Western Australia, for whom he made his debut in 2009.

In his four years with WA Hogan took 130 wickets at 27.66 in the Sheffield Shield - an impressive record that prompted Langer to try to keep Hogan in Perth.

Langer had said he would do everything in his power to try to keep Hogan in Australia

''He's our best bowler,'' Langer told the Newcastle Herald in Australia in February.

''I am doing everything I can to talk him into staying.''

Glamorgan will be pleased to have secured Hogan especially after James Harris, the England Lions bowler, left for Middlesex at the end of the 2012 season.
