Simon Jones: Glamorgan bowler misses out on new contract

Former England paceman Simon Jones has failed in his efforts to get a Twenty20 contract with Glamorgan next season.
The 34-year-old helped them to the final of the YB40 at Lord's, where they lost to Nottinghamshire.
But Jones played only one match in the shorter format because of injury.
Chief executive Hugh Morris said it was a difficult decision, but hopes Jones will find a contract elsewhere: "Simon won't be with us next year but he's had an outstanding career with Glamorgan."
Jones announced his plans to retire from first-class and one-day cricket before Glamorgan's YB40 final defeat to Nottinghamshire at Lord's, but has said previously he would look for a Twenty20 deal elsewhere if he could not stay on at the Swalec Stadium.
"These are always really difficult decisions to take, particularly with players who have performed so outstandingly well for you over a period of time," said Morris, who recently resigned as managing director of England cricket.
"Simon has had an outstanding career for Glamorgan and for England.
"In his pomp, looking back to 2005, I think he was one of the best bowlers in the world.
"It gives Simon the opportunity to look elsewhere.
"I'm sure there will be a number of clubs and a number of countries that will be looking for his services, particularly in the Twenty20 format of the game and clearly we wish him all the very best with that."
