After the 405-run thrashing meted out at Lord's in the first Test, the scorecard from the first day's play at Edgbaston made for much more welcome reading for England fans.

The scorecard that launched a thousand mock-ups
Australia were skittled for 136 and in reply England progressed to 133-3.
So beautiful did the scorecard look that some of you decided to capture it in suitably grand or historic settings.
Here are some of your BBC scorecard pictures - featuring the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Times Square, and even a Downton Abbey Star.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge made a particularly satisfying setting for a scorecard depicting Australian misery...

It looked pretty good in Times Square too, although even a good old Ashes ding-dong didn't seem to capture the attention of the New York public.

As England took "one small step" towards regaining the Ashes, one of you managed "one giant leap" of imagination with this picture of the scorecard on the moon.

Celebrities were even getting in on the act, as this picture of Downton Abbey's Jim Carter shows...

George Osborne proudly displayed the scorecard on the front of his Budget box - with the only cuts coming from the bat of Alastair Cook.

Never one to be left out, even Sepp Blatter got in on the action.

The scorecard even found its way onto the sands of Iwo Jima...

Not even Batman could save Australia from a chastening first day.
