England have included Middlesex batsman Fran Wilson in a squad of 14 for the Ashes Test with Australia at Canterbury starting on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old struck back-to-back half centuries for the Academy in the two warm-up matches against Australia.

She replaces Amy Jones, who made only 15 runs in two one-day innings.

Australia lead the points-based Ashes series 4-2 after winning the final two one-day matches but four points are on offer for the winner of the Test.

England beat Australia by 61 runs in the Test at Perth in January last year, which helped them retain the Women's Ashes.

If all the remaining matches - comprising one Test and three Twenty20 internationals - are completed, England must win the Test and one T20, draw the Test and win two T20s, or win all three T20s to retain the Ashes.

"There is no denying that the result of the Test will go a long way to determining the overall outcome of this Women's Ashes contest," head of England women's performance Paul Shaw said.

"We have a very strong recent Test record against them, and this is certainly something that we will take into the match next week.

"We have selected Fran Wilson as a straight swap for Amy Jones. Fran has been in excellent form with the bat for club and county this summer."

England Women's Test squad: Charlotte Edwards (Kent) (capt), Katherine Brunt (Yorkshire), Kate Cross (Lancashire), Georgia Elwiss (Sussex), Lydia Greenway (Kent), Rebecca Grundy (Warwickshire), Jenny Gunn (Nottinghamshire), Heather Knight (Berkshire), Laura Marsh (Kent), Natalie Sciver (Surrey), Anya Shrubsole (Somerset), Sarah Taylor (Sussex, wk), Fran Wilson (Middlesex), Lauren Winfield (Yorkshire)

There will be live commentary of the match on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra from Tuesday at 10:25 BST.
