Sir Bradley Wiggins finished 32 seconds adrift of race leader Tony Martin

Britain's Sir Bradley Wiggins finished 14th as Germany's Tony Martin won the opening time trial in the Tour of Switzerland.

The Team Sky rider, who claims he will not be taking part in next month's Tour de France, finished 32 seconds adrift.

Wiggins, who won the 2012 Tour de France, is racing in his first event since he won May's Tour of California.

Martin, a three-time world time-trial champion, covered the 9.4km course in 13 minutes 48 seconds.

The Omega Pharma Quick-Step rider finished six seconds clear of Tom Dumoulin with Rohan Dennis third, seven seconds further back.

Two-time defending champion Rui Alberto Faria Da Costa of Portugal was 28th, 42 seconds adrift.
