Guarischi wins after massive crash

Sunday, 2 August: RideLondon-Surrey 100 live on BBC Two from 10:00-10:30 BST and live text commentary from 10:00-14:30.

RideLondon-Surrey Classic live on Red Button 14:30-15:30 and BBC One 15:05-18:35.

Italy's Barbara Guarischi beat American Shelley Olds in a sprint finish to win the RideLondon Grand Prix.

Britons Katie Archibald and Laura Trott were sixth and eighth respectively over a course that looped around St James's Park.

The race was marred by a big crash at the start of the final lap which left several riders injured on the ground.

Olds' Ale Cipollini team-mate Annalisa Cucinotta was third, with last year's winner Giorgia Bronzini fifth.

"This victory is amazing, but without my team it would have been impossible," Velocio-SRAM rider Guarischi said.

While the inaugural race in 2013 saw a British one-two and last year's edition featured seven GB riders in the top 10, this year's event was a disappointing one for Britain's female cyclists, with only three finishing in the top 10.

Trott, riding for her new team Matrix Pro Cycling, told the BBC she had enjoyed the experience.

"In London 2012, I never got to come out on to the roads, so to race in front of the crowds is great," she said.

The men's race, the 100-mile London-Surrey Classic, takes place on Sunday with Britain's Sir Bradley Wiggins,, external Mark Cavendish and German Andre Greipel, who won four stages at this year's Tour de France,, external among the competitors.
