Charlotte Dujardin wins European freestyle dressage gold

Double Olympic gold medallist Charlotte Dujardin has added a second gold to the European individual dressage title she won on Friday.

The 28-year-old won the top honour in the freestyle to take Britain's medal haul to six in Herning, Denmark.

The showjumping team took gold while Ben Maher and Scott Brash also clinched individual silver and bronze.

The dressage team quartet of Dujardin, Carl Hester, Michael Eilberg and Gareth Hughes also won bronze.

Dujardin also set a new European Championship record freestyle score of 91.250%, after she also broke her own world record in the dressage.

"I had great fun, I absolutely loved it. It was amazing," said Dujardin, who was riding 10-year-old gelding Valegro.

Team-mate, mentor and trainer Carl Hester, who finished sixth, was full of praise for the Gloucestershire-based rider.

"It was such a polished performance," he said. "That music programme depends on the transitions, and they were spot-on. If she hits it right, then you have the perfect freestyle.

"There is a drama to every movement she does, and she hit everything right. It was just brilliant, the best test she has done."
