Peterborough United have signed Macclesfield striker Emile Sinclair for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old, who has scored 17 goals in 86 appearances for the Silkmen, has signed a three-year deal.

He has scored four times in his seven games this season, including both goals in the 2-0 Carling Cup win over Hull.

"Emile is very quick, and someone who can really penetrate the opposing defence," Posh boss Darren Ferguson told the club website, external.

"And I think in the last two games we have missed someone with that style of play.

"Barry Richardson, our goalkeeping coach, has worked with him before so we know all about him.

"He can play wide and has actually played most of his career as a winger, but he has played down the middle and that is where we will look to play him."

Sinclair started his career at Nottingham Forest, where he featured as a substitute 18 times without making a start.

Loan spells at Brentford and Mansfield followed before he joined Macclesfield on loan in January 2009, signing permanently seven months later.
