AFC Wimbledon 0-3 Northampton

A Michael Jacobs brace earned Northampton a deserved victory over AFC Wimbledon.

Adebayo Akinfenwa gave the Cobblers the lead from the penalty spot after Marlon Jackson was brought down by Seb Brown.

Just before half-time, Northampton had Nick McKoy sent off but the visitors still produced a strong second half.

Jacobs saw his long-range effort creep in after going through the legs of Brown, before the midfielder fired in a powerful drive six minutes from time.

Johnson praises 'magnificent' Jacobs

"We had to be professional and I was very proud of their performance. In the end, the 10 men demoralised the 11.

"Everybody did their job, threw themselves in front of things and we defended the goal very, very well. Our spirit in defending was fantastic.

"Michael Jacobs was magnificent in the second half. To save it only being 1-0 for a long time, he decided he was going to go and win the game for us - and he certainly did that."
