Darlington chairman Raj Singh has offered his backing to manager Mark Cooper despite Saturday's 2-0 loss at Bath City in Blue Square Bet Premier.

The Quakers have now lost six of their first 14 games, with five defeats in the last eight matches to leave the club in 16th place.

"Changing the manager now is not the answer," Singh told the club website, external.

"We've been trying to build some stability at this club and we've made a lot of progress."

Singh added: "I've had a really good, productive chat with Mark this afternoon and we're both convinced he can turn things around.

"Our result yesterday was unacceptable and we apologise to our fans for our bad form, especially those who made the long trip to Bath on Saturday.

"He's assured me he's the right man for the job, and I'm fully behind him."
