Morecambe extended their unbeaten away record to eight league games by overwhelming Port Vale.
After strong defensive starts by both sides Jason Price pounced from six yards when Stuart Tomlinson spilled Danny Carlton's shot.
Lewis Alessandra then broke through and chipped Tomlinson before the break.
Liam Chilvers fouled Gary McDonald late on and Laurence Wilson buried the penalty before Andrew Fleming's close-range header sealed the victory.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Port Vale manager Micky Adams told BBC Radio Stoke:
"I've said to the players that they've gone from the sublime to the ridiculous, which is quite sad in the space of nine days.
"To play so well against Northampton and then see what we've seen today is difficult.
"They've done great recently and I'm not going to give up on them. Some of the supporters might, but I'm not going to because there's a long way to go yet."
