The future of football at the Racecourse Ground now looks secure

The sale of Wrexham Football Club has been completed after the Welsh side confirmed the takeover on Wednesday.

The Blue Square Bet Premier side are now owned wholly by supporters, with the Football Conference officially ratifying the takeover on 12 December.

Wrexham issued a statement confirming the takoever had been completed.

"The business of Wrexham Football Club has now been acquired by Wrexham AFC Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of Wrexham Supporters' Trust)," it read.

"Wrexham Football Club is, therefore, now wholly owned by its supporters.

"The completion of the transaction represents the conclusion of a long and tortuous process which has been achieved through the goodwill, hard work and co-operation of all parties.

"Wrexham Supporters' Trust would like to thank the Conference and the FA [Football Association] for their assistance in approving the transfer of membership.

"Both parties would like to thank the supporters for their continued support of the team and their financial contributions to ensure that the club has survived to enable the ownership to be transferred to the supporters.

The Conference, whose league is currently known under sponsor's banner Blue Square, is expected to officially ratify the takeover at a meeting next month.

The takeover finally went through having been held up by the need to satisfy FA rules concerning existing debtors, following a long period of financial problems at the north Wales club.

It comes just too late to allow Wrexham player-manager Andy Morrell to bolster his squad, as the loan signing window closed last week.

The Dragons lead the Blue Square Bet Premier, level on points with Fleetwood but ahead on goal difference, after winning their game in hand 2-1 at home to Darlington on Wednesday night.
