O'Driscoll, who was sacked by Rovers in September, external, coached Fletcher as a youngster at Dean Court

"It's just someone that I asked to give us another set of eyes to look at it from a different point of view," Fletcher told BBC Radio Devon.

But Fletcher said there was no chance of O'Driscoll joining the Argyle staff on a full-time basis.

"While he's not in a job it's really nice that he's helping me out," Fletcher said.

O'Driscoll coached Fletcher at Bournemouth's youth academy and helped bring him through the club's ranks before he left Dean Court for West Ham, external.

Fletcher took over the Argyle job after Peter Reid was sacked in September, having never coached a side before.

"There's enough people out there that want to give you their opinion but you're only going to listen to ones that you respect," said Fletcher.

"I'm one of those people that if I don't know I'll ask the question.

"I think if you're not sure and you don't ask questions then you're just ignorant really."
