Sheffield Wednesday manager Gary Megson says the Ben Marshall saga is no closer to being resolved until the Stoke player decides on his long-term future.

The 20-year-old winger has returned to the Potters after completing a six-month loan spell at Hillsborough.

Wednesday want to extend Marshall's loan but can only do so if the winger signs a new deal first with Stoke.

"Ben's choices are either he stays at Stoke or somebody comes along and signs him," Megson told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"We're trying to keep the status quo where Ben signs a new contract and is loaned out to us."

Marshall's current deal at the Britannia Stadium expires in the summer but he has yet to agree to a new contract.

"Ben's got his valuation of himself," Megson said. "Stoke have got their value and we're dependent on what happens there."
