Daryl Murphy would ponder Ipswich Town stay from Celtic

On-loan forward Daryl Murphy has not ruled out joining Ipswich permanently from Celtic at the end of the season.

The 28-year-old has scored two goals in 17 games so far during his season-long loan spell at Portman Road.

And when asked whether he would consider staying, he told BBC Radio Suffolk: "Yeah, I would. I've really enjoyed my time here.

"There are still a lot of games left to play this season but that decision is not down to me."

However, the former Sunderland player says that there has been no talk of extending his spell with the Championship club: "There's nothing going on at the moment.

"I'm here until the end of the season, that was the agreement. Whatever happens after that we'll see. I've still go another year at Celtic."

Murphy has been capped nine times by the Republic of Ireland but his last appearance came in August 2008.

And he does not think he is in the running for a place in the Euro 2012 squad: "I've no plans for that at all. After the season, I'm going to relax and go on holiday with my family and catch up with some friends."

Meanwhile, midfielder Luke Hyam has spoken of his delight at getting back into the first team and earning a new deal last week.

The 20-year-old did not play between August and January and has revealed he considered a loan move away.

"It was really tough. I was a bit depressed but I'm back in the team and really enjoying it," he said. "I really missed it.

"I was hoping to go out on loan. I'm young and I need games. As long as I'm in the team I won't be going out on loan.

"I want to stay here. I love this club. I want to stay as long as possible. When I was younger I always dreamt of playing for Ipswich."
