Andy Williams offered 'club-record' Yeovil Town deal

Yeovil striker Andy Williams has been offered a 'club-record' deal to stay at Huish Park beyond this season.

The 25-year-old is out of contract in the summer but the Glovers are keen to keep hold of their top scorer, who has netted 17 goals in 38 games this term.

"We've already put in our plea," manager Gary Johnson told BBC Somerset.

"We're not going to be able to entice him through sentiment but Andy's been offered the biggest offer this club has ever made."

He continued: "It's on his table now. We've offered it to him early and it's up to him.

"He's got to look at his options but I hope he stays. We're going to be competing next season and it would be nice if we could have him with us."

Williams joined Yeovil from Bristol Rovers in 2010, where he scored just 10 goals in 102 appearances.

But he has rediscovered his goalscoring ability at the League One club and was named the club's player of the year after Saturday's 3-2 win over Chesterfield, in which he scored the winning goal.

And the forward says that he wants to repay the faith shown by the club for helping him get back to form.

"I've got a bit of time to consider it," said Williams. "It's a tough decision to make as when I came here two years ago it wasn't a great time in my career and I had a lot of rebuilding to do.

"But they've all worked with me well and I think I'm starting to see the rewards on the pitch. Hopefully that will mean some good offers for me in the summer."
