Gainsborough Trinity lose their play off final against Nuneaton Town in the Blue Square Bet North

Gainsborough Trinity boss Steve Housham says getting so close to winning promotion has made his side determined to come back stronger next season.

Trinity lost their Blue Square Bet North play-off final against Nuneaton Town in front of a crowd of 3,280 at the Northolme on Sunday.

Housham told BBC Lincolnshire:, external "We will pick ourselves up and have another go.

"It's a great feeling to be at these games. It's not nice to lose of course, but it's what we want to be part of."

Housham added: "The fans should be proud of what we have achieved this season and so should the players.

"We were so close - it just didn't fall for us. We gave it a right old go and the supporters were fantastic."
