Sheffield United goalkeeper Steve Simonsen has confirmed to BBC Radio Sheffield that he is being released by the club this summer.
The 33-year-old missed the decisive spot-kick in Blades' League One play-off final penalty shoot-out defeat by Huddersfield on Saturday.
The former Tranmere, Everton and Stoke keeper joined Blades in 2010 and his contract is set to expire.
Danny Wilson's side are set to announce their retained list on Wednesday.
Speaking about his impending departure, Simonsen said: "I've got nothing but admiration for the supporters. I've had my ups and downs over the two years that I've been there.
"Since Saturday in particular I've had nothing but kind words. I can't say enough about them, the support we had last season was fantastic."
