No Norwich approach for Cardiff boss Malky Mackay

Cardiff City say they have had no approach to speak to manager Malky Mackay despite speculation linking him with a move to Norwich City.

Canaries boss Paul Lambert looks set to succeed Alex McLeish as Aston Villa manager even though Norwich have rejected his resignation.

Former Norwich captain Mackay made more than 200 appearances for the East Anglia side in his playing days.

Mackay signed a new three-and-a-half year Bluebirds contract last February.

The former Watford boss earned plaudits last season for leading Cardiff to the Championship play-offs and the Carling Cup final.

That was achieved despite having had to rebuild a playing squad that suffered the departure of a dozen senior players in the off-season.

Cardiff say if they do receive an offer from Norwich they will do all they can to keep Mackay.
