Aldershot 2-1 Hendon

  • Published

Danny Hylton's brace for Aldershot Town avoided an upset against Hendon, and relieved some of the pressure on manager Dean Holdsworth.

The Isthmian Premier Division side took the lead when a 30-yard volley from Dean Cracknell, a plumber by trade, arrowed into the top-left corner.

Hylton equalised after converting winger Kieron Cadogan's cross from the right.

The 23-year-old then sealed the win, tapping in Craig Reid's cutback.

Aldershot manager Dean Holdsworth told BBC Surrey:

Holdsworth pleased to avoid shock

"We showed a lot of character. We passed the ball well, had a lot of possession and scored two good goals.

"I didn't want to be in the headlines tomorrow for this football club having a giant-killing. You have to just win the game and get on with it.

"We've won today and we're in the next round. That's the most important thing."
